Turkish coffee, Lycian Writers

Merhaba! Thanks for your interest in Lycian Writers!
Our spring course will run 28th April to 5th May 2019. Our spring course is now closed to applications. Please inquire about our next available course dates. Thank you for your interest!

This will be taught by Sarah Hall, and will include 5 days of workshops, writing exercises, and one-to-one tutorials tailored towards the individual requirements of participants. Maximum number of participants - 10.

Sarah’s co-host, Hamit, will be on hand to help organize and to offer hospitality, tour guidance, and restaurant recommendations. He will even give small lessons in speaking Turkish!

View from Turkish hotel, venue for Lycian Writers There will be free time to explore the area, to relax, and to write.

Lycian Writers is based in a small, peaceful, boutique hotel near the beach. Course participants will each have an en-suite bedroom with a sea-view balcony. There are no televisions!

The week will include a Turquoise Coast boat tour to the sunken city of Kekova, and short walking tours in the old fishing town of Kaş where the program is hosted. Kaş is known for its beauty, history, and fantastic cuisine, its steep, cobbled streets and lush, fragrant flowers. There are spectacular Lycian ruins, colourful cafes, restaurants, bars and live music.

The town is 1.5 to 2 hours drive from Dalaman airport, and 2.5 hours from Antalya airport, with flights running regularly from most major UK and international airports. Participants must book their own flights. We are able to arrange transfers from the airport to the hotel if required.

A welcome booklet will be provided giving more information about the region, practical guidance, and suggestions for leisure activities. You may wish to extend your holiday...

The course is open to participants of all abilities, from those wondering how to begin writing, to those with more experience and projects already underway. Sarah will offer inspiration, encouragement, and participants will benefit from her analytical and editing skills. She will discuss the many ways that words create worlds.

This is primarily a prose course, but those interested in other forms of writing might also find it helpful. Literature has no hard borders!

Course fees - £1,700

Fees include teaching, accommodation with wonderful Turkish breakfasts, airport transfers, welcome drinks and meze, tours, and a celebratory last-night dinner in one of the best and oldest local restaurants.

The course directors will be happy to answer any further questions.

We look forward to hearing from you.
